Lately, Sophia has been obsessed with Shopkins and Veronica has been obsessed with The Ugglys Pet Shop, so they earn tokens collect them.
They don’t turn in tokens as soon as they earn them. We have a schedule for redeeming tokens, too.
However, just as they can earn tokens, they can also LOSE them.

I agree! We have a shoppies that Sophia really wants, and she has seen it in the prize bin. She hasn’t earned enough tokens to get it, so it’s teaching her to work hard for what she wants!

I would totally try this when my kid got a little older. She just turned two, and we talk to her all the time about making good choices. I always ask her, when she’s about to do something wrong, if she’s making a good choice, and usually she knows the answer is no. I’m sure we’ll get to the point where that doesn’t work anymore!

What a fantastic idea and I am all for reinforcement. I like the sound of the tokens been given and taken to cement the difference between good and bad behaviors.

Incentives are still the best way to get me to do anything and I’m 21 haha! I’ve never heard of these tokens haha, but sounds like something that definitely works!

I have the tick chart, where all chores earn a tick and each tick is worth a certain amount of money. I use computer time as a reward for positive behaviour.

I used to work in a school where we used tokens/rewards for behavior modification and classroom participation. Works beautifully!! I now use on my twins!!

This is really the only system that works with my boys. We have a chart hanging on their door. They get checks for different tasks and the checks turn into rewards. It helps keep my sanity!
